I’m gonna be 500 miles.... 🎶
Mule Driver (Current Employee) –  Syracuse NYJune 19, 2019
If you’ve never joined track and field, get a good pair of shoes because you’re gonna need them!
Everything is fast paced. And I mean fast!! You better have your fair share of caffeine, anti inflammatory medicine, and depends. Your body aches. Because they expect you to throw a 22 pallet truck by yourself while they’ll throw three pallets. That’s what the inflammation is. Every joint. Head, shoulders, knees and toes. Sing it with me!!
Depends....you get guilted in using the lavatory.
You’re timed on everything. Customers will place a fake complaint with the company via email or phone and tell them you smashed their pineapple. They’ll look for ANY excuses to fire you or push you out. People know people and money talks.
Management harasses and stalks you on video tape. Like vultures. They’ll yell at ya for answering your phone when the school calls because of a bus accident, but you’ll see them ordering take out and coffee from the next person coming in on their shift. They’ll stalk you on social media and screenshot your stuff while sharing it to their little gossip groups while accidentally sharing my stuff publicly!! ALWAYS document. Always. Don’t matter what the law or rule is. Every manager that’s worked at these stores are beyond unfaithful. Rules are broken. They steal office supplies, date people in the company, bully you, and lie to other team members that you did something you didn’t so they can take the focus off themselves for THEIR shady business!!
Retaliation is extreme. You’re not allowed a 15 minute break. That’s outta the question. Anything to save a dime
more... but you’ll drive by corporate and see every district manager driving a new Audi and fully insured by the company. The managers manual??? THEY aren’t allowed to tell you that you did a good job. Instead, they’re ordered to tell you what you could have done better!! Insult after insult you are lucky to have any self esteem left. Never in my career have I felt completely brainwashed, abused, and humiliated.  less
Pros
Customers are great!
Cons
If you don’t have anxiety, come here and you sure will!

Consistently efficient and friendly work environment.
Shift Manager (Current Employee) –  1000 E Green Meadows, Columbia MO, 65201June 19, 2019
A job that rewards employees that like continuous, productive work. You are always moving and always working. Rather you are cashiering, stocking, or helping customers you will not find a time where there is nothing to do. The fast-paced work environment keeps different tasks coming at you and it becomes you or your manager to prioritize those tasks. The team is great and the managers are even greater to work alongside. All team members are focused and work hard towards keeping a fast, efficient shopping experience for all their customers.

Decent $, rotten conditions
Store Associate (Former Employee) –  United StatesJune 19, 2019
Schedule switches between getting there pre-dawn and out near 10 pm, so it's impossible to have a good sleep schedule. Typically punch out ~25 min past shift end, but it's intended to be 35 hrs/wk, so only some overtime. Intentionally under-staffed to keep prices down. This does offer a bit of independence, but not much. No real workplace camaraderie bc you're rarely in the same place or on the same task. Other cost-saving policies frustrate customers but you must follow the rules but it's your fault if they're upset. They teach you proper lifting technique, but you have to go so fast you can't use it. Sometimes you end up spending 2+ hours straight in the freezer. I enjoyed the organizational parts of stocking/boxing and the variety, but you hardly ever get the satisfaction of finishing something due to how it's set up.
Pros
Pay, chairs for cashiers
Cons
Hours, working breaks, healthcare

It's a great place to work
Sales Associate, Cashier (Former Employee) –  Omaha, NEJune 18, 2019
It keeps you busy. It can be stressful more than it needs to be. But the bosses are understandable. It pays great. But you are definitely doing work there. The secedual isn't set. So you can be working early one day and closing the next, and sometimes dubbed shifts. But they do treat you like family. Its was one of my best jobs I've ever had.
Pros
You sometimes get duscounts on food.
Cons
Stressful more than needs to be. Shifts aren't constant makes it hard to schedule a doc apt.

Great place to work, if you enjoy people and working!
Store Associate (Current Employee) –  TNJune 18, 2019
Later, wasn't to fond of my boss inconsistent behavior. But you'll find it's a good company to work for if you stay true to yourself, learn and be willing to grow, still in dealing with the different people, attitudes and lifestyles. It is an evolving company, if you don't like change, a timing fast pace and people. You won't be happy, for too long, unless you decide and want to make a change within "yourself". You'll grow and learn alot!

Dry Selector (Seasonal Employee) (Current Employee) –  Faribault, MNJune 18, 2019
I enjoy being a dry selector at aldi, the rotating schedule is the only negative. The supervisors and employees are respectful. The job is very physical and independent work.

Store Associate (Former Employee) –  Grand Rapids, MIJune 18, 2019
Over all it's general retail of stocking and checking people out, but they require you to be quick about it. Though, you do get paid decently well with very good health benefits.
Pros
Good Health Benefits
Cons
General Retail

Non Stop
Associate (Former Employee) –  Arden, NCJune 17, 2019
This company is great to work for when lower management is good. I worked at an Aldi in another city and had an amazing experience. Management was good and it felt like a team environment. I transferred to another store in a new city and the management was poor. I would be scheduled from 2-11pm on a Monday and be required to come back in at 5am the following morning. It went against company policy and when I approached the manager I was told I would be put part time if I was not willing to work those hours.... On another note, prepare to stay past your scheduled time and expect to be scolded if you don't. Pay was decent but not enough to deal with all that.

StoreAssociate (Former Employee) –  Salem, NHJune 17, 2019
Always under staffed that decision is made by management. Productivity is everything! You fall behind you stay behind. This company in the management contract says that management cannot praise employees for good behavior or doing well. They're supposed to tell them that they did good but they can do better next time. No sense of gratification
Pros
Great coworkers
Cons
Bad coworkers

Fast paced, a lot of corporate changes making work life/family life difficult
Associate (Current Employee) –  Winter Haven, FLJune 17, 2019
Good money starting out, top out on pay within 2yrs. Hours vary daily and they refuse to allow an employee to just be day or night staff, you must be available everyday for all shifts. Very limited employees on each shift. A large work load, lots of heavy lifting, you only sit IF you are cashiering (limited time). Aldi wants their employees to give their all, but gives no incentive for employees to do so. Manager is great, sadly he/she has no actual say about anything within the store.
Pros
Good starting pay, insurance, 401k, vacation after 1yr.
Cons
No production or performance raises, no stability in schedules

Store Associate (Former Employee) –  Machesney Park, ILJune 17, 2019
Some days it can be super busy non stop and other days it can be more relaxed. I learned a lot about retail and the job duties. The hardest part of the job I would say is being short staffed. The most enjoyable part of the job would be the workers and having a good relationship with them.
Pros
Discount when shopping.
Cons
The store managers attitude.

Unrealistic expectations
Associate (Current Employee) –  Laurens, SCJune 14, 2019
I worked at a smaller store, so only 2 people worked at a time. They expected you to run register while doing all other duties (cleaning, assisting customers, and work pallets, not to mention any extra cleaning caused by spills). Everything at Aldi is about speed, you are timed on EVERYTHING and its extremely stressful, especially when customers get upset because they feel you are "mishandling" their groceries. If you like fast pace, and I mean FAST pace, this is a good job for you, the pay is decent and benefits are good, but if you have any type of physical limitations, I wouldn't even bother because they will not take that into consideration.
Pros
Benefits, decent pay
Cons
Stressful environment

Hours
Shift Manager/Associate (Current Employee) –  Mount Pleasant, MIJune 14, 2019
The hours are all over the place, but I know that is just retail. Management is all over the place and you never know what response you will receive. The changes are not positive 100% od the time.
